poppy coin

I went to Blue Mountain again, from Friday to Sunday.. It was fun. We played mini-golf. Of the 5 members of my family who played (including myself), I got 2nd place.

Heard of the poppy coin? It's a new $0.25 coin in circulation, quite similar to the predecessor, but now with a red poppy in the middle. The poppy is a type of flower, which symbolises Canada's effort in World War II. It's the first circulated coloured coin, in the world. Ever. I got one. Unfortunately it has a small defect (which will probably be fixed by the Royal Canadian Mint in it's next printing of coins), where the red "permanent" ink sort of rubs off. Underneath the red ink there's still an engraved poppy, it's just harder to see.

braces on

i got my braces on today, less than an hour ago. They're not hurting so much now, but I have a feeling they'll only hurt more as time goes on. Oh, and my mp3 player is wicked.

It's late right now.. and I'm kinda bored. but, I got my mp3 player today. w00t. I'll update you all on how it works later. oh, and tomorrow (or today, depending on what time zone you live in) I'm going to get half of my braces put on.

friday night lights

I haven't really been doing anything recently, besides studying for tests at school, and watching TV, therefore I found nothing to write about in this blog for a while. Last Tuesday I watched 'Friday Night Lights,' but due to the fact that I didn't understand where the plot went to, I won't bother bashing it (that much). I found it silly, boring, and the characters were empathic tools. Instead of wondering why they were getting angry due to football-illiteracy, they focused on how much society affects them, and how people can be dreadfully forceful. Now, after searching the web vigorously, I've seen people state opinions similar to mine, except this difference: that's why they like it. freaky stuff. the football sucked and the drama was lamely brought out. Yet, it was well-received with critics because because it 'demonstrated' adults free of intelligent merit using the lives of their children as their slaves, all the merrier when it was 'dramatically' solved by having faith in conservatism and otherwise doing nothing in order to fill a plot gap.

uncomfortable separators

Ah, I went on Tuesday to the dentist.. he put on some separators for my upper-back teeth (two on each side) and they hurt a lot.. I'm taking them off on Tuesday. These are just on so it helps when he puts on my entire braces during the next visit, but I don't know if I can wait that long.

back

Hey everyone, I'm back from Blue Mountain.. we didn't do that much, just went swimming for a while in the hotel pool and travelled on this tractor around some plateau on a hill. My Thanksgiving dinner consisted of a veggie burger n' fries from McDonald's, and my lunch was a pizza of green peppers, mushrooms, and pineapples from Pizza Co. We watched Walking Tall last night. It was an okay movie with better-than-okay action.

long weekend vacation

hey, so I bought the Creative MuVo Slim 256MB mp3 player.. for $207 CDN (that's around $167 USD). it's awesome, I ordered it from Future Shop, where there's pretty much always a sale on. Apparently it's Thanksgiving sale now, whatever that means (besides giving me a discount.. yay.) I'll get it delivered to me by next week, or the week after that.. i dunno.

Also, my throat is feeling much better. I was complaining about it the other day, but I can breathe again now, which is a good thing (at least for me).

So, I'm leaving from this Sunday (which is today, considering the time is 2:25AM) until Monday -- which is Thanksgiving in Canada. I'll be going to Blue Mountain, because my parents own a resort there and apparently we want some family time and stuff, having fun with activities like golf and whatnot. So I won't post until tomorrow (or the day after tomorrow, depending on whatever time zone your in). I know you'll all miss me, but that's too bad for you. =P

Here are some webcams at Blue Mountain, just in case you see my shadow anywhere inside or outside the resort.

slim audio thing

I think I'm going to buy this mp3 player. It holds 256MB, has nice neodymium earphones, a built-in FM radio (and you can record it onto your player), removable lithium-ion battery providing up to 17 hours of battery, built-in microphone holding around 16 hours worth of voice, and yeah.. not just thin.. it's wickedly thin. yes: wickedly.

here is an amazing three-dee demo (you can see how freakishly sleek it is: clickily.

braces

yay.. i'm getting braces soon.. I have a dentist appointment this Tuesday, but I might not get them on entirely, until the week after that (depending on how it's possible to put braces on when I only have an appointment length of one hour each week). I can't wait, I think I'll get them off before I am the age of majority (eighteen-years-old). Well I really wanted Invisalign, which claims to be perfectly comfortable, amazingly fast, and more importantly: invisable.. it's just a chunk of plastic that's customized for your teeth, and it kicks ass.

but apparently my teeth aren't designed for it -- despite Invisalign's stating that it works on anyone, no matter what (either that, or I'm deaf). Actually, I'm not the only one who's dealt with it "not being capable". Apparently it doesn't work on anyone, I'm serious. I wouldn't be surprised if dentists just group together and create/promote this fallacious plastic in order to get customers to come in.. then screw them and force them to instead opt-in for metalic and uncomfortable ones. that sucks.. It's a conspiracy. I want invisability, and not rusty metal glued onto my teeth with wax. gimme.

edwards owned

Woah.. I was watching the vice-presedential debate for the entire time [1 hour, 40 minutes].. It was great, you learn a lot about a person just from listening to them speak. Edwards definetly won the debate, I'd be surprised if anyone thought differently without ignorant prejudice.

I'm sure big changes will appear in the polls.. I usually follow electoral-vote.com, which has been placing Bush in the lead for quite a while now,
unfortunately for those who are not corrupt.

Here is a recently-done chart:
click. It obviously has not been affected by the vice-presedential debate which has just occured just over an hour ago.

mcdonald's is freaky

I think I set my expectations way too high before watching 'super size me'.. if you haven't heard of it, it's basically a documentary on the effects of fast food, so the guy sets off to eat mcdonald's for thirty days, and nothing else, yes breakfast, lunch, dinner, including water, must be from one of the thousands of McDonald's franchises, and when asked to have his meal 'super sized', he must.. the results were obvious -- he gained 24.5 pounds and his liver got nuked..

I expected it to be humorous and smart, but it was neither. the guy didn't have any idea what he was talking about, or he was attempting an innocent persona, but he kept it throughout the entire movie -- so there was obviously no point. the movie consisted only of barfing and complaining about headaches.. and that's it -- the movies was over. what a waste of time, geez. did it work? will I not eat McDonald's anymore? of course not, I'm a vegetarian anyways, but I will still eat the Veggie Burger (considering that Yves makes them, and there's only 8.6 grams of fat, still a lot, but nothing compared to other McDonald's meals).

Geoffrey Guilliano, who dressed up as Ronald McDonald from late 1970's to early 1980's), and later embraced vegetarianism, said "I feel badly about what I've done with young people. I was the happy face on something that was horrendous."

That's always nice to know.

ouch

grr.. my stomach has been hurting me the entire day, and I don't know why.. maybe something I ate, but doubt it.. so I was absent from school during the last fifth, and now I'm not going to Karate (6:30PM - 8:10PM).

anyways, I still haven't tried that NASA software, and I'm too weak to do anything.

nasa's world model

this software (259MB), designed by NASA.. is an entire 3D model of the earth from satellite images. you can supposedly zoom in on absolutely anywhere on the planet and look at whatever you want by transferring from NASA's database (there is over 20 terabytes worth of data on their servers just for this).. cool, eh?

download it yourself.. here.. I haven't used it yet, I'm still downloading (30 minutes remaining)

i'll post more once I use it.. but I've heard that it's temporarily not working outside the US, so i'll just wait 'till they get that up.

best movies from january to october

best movies of 2004.. at least: so far.

  1. HellBoy
  2. Collateral
  3. Hero
  4. Farenheit 9/11
  5. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
those movies were good.. if you haven't seen them, then go see them.. now.

ladder fourty-nine

That movie was a movie you'd see with your friends.. it brings you to a different society, with realistic disputes instead of silly ones.. where not every problem has to be solved in order for the movie to keep rolling. it wasn't in chronological order, which changed how we perceived the past, knowing he would survive because we saw his future.. the friendship that goes on between the firemen is a real one -- which probably pissed off some critics who were hoping to see "the men under the hats" and other mysterious bull trying to make them look cynical.. just because a movie idolises them, doesn't mean they don't deserve to be idolised. yes, there was no subtleness of anything.. everything was given and pointed at for many minutes, so instead of letting the viewers actually reflect, it told them how they should reflect in order to give into cultural sensitivity towards death and heroism. still.. a good movie, I'd give 6.5/10.

rawr

Hey.. I'm not sure what I'm going to put in this.. but this is the first entry.. yeah..
